How I can get a hidden wireless router to be recognized for my PCMCIA adapter and not have to retype Thessa
I have a laptop adapter can not store the SSID of my router and every time I turn on the laptop I have to write the name of the router plus entryption hidden wep. any idea how to get upset about this exercise again and again?
You're probably better off turning SSID broadcasting, WPA allowed if the router is compatible. Encryption WEP, as I'm sure you've heard, is very weak and hardly worth using, although it is better than nothing. However, most current wireless routers compatible with WPA-PSK (TKIP), and it is very difficult to configure. * IF * use a secure password and keep it secure, WPA-PSK can provide strong security for wireless connection. For more information, I recommend Steve Gibson's website, specifically its SecurityNow! Podcasts, pay particular attention to episodes 10, 11 and 13. (I will include the link below ...) On the SSID broadcast turned off and always has been recommended "to increase security," but did not really provide any security Additionally, only a false sense of security. Here's why: the SSID is transmitted in the header of each packet sent by an associated device, which is what identifies the packet to the AP as a package that needs to hear and process.
