Can someone explain the difference between ethernet network and token ring network please?
I thought token ring was the way a network is set out, like a topology or something :S

Token ring used a method of each station passing a token along and when it had the token it could "talk". when it didn't, it had to listen. Haven't seen one of these in years.

Ethernet sends blocks of data addressed to other addresses and doesn't care who else is sending at the same time. Data collisions happen all the time that didn't happen under token ring. Ethernet has error checking to compensate.
