Unstable internet connection?
I have a Engenius ESR-9753 wireless router
DSL
The problem is I'm receiving unstable connections on my HP laptop, which disables me from playing any online game for more than 10-15 minutes.
There is no problem with my laptop, not that I know of, as well as no viruses.
Running Windows 7
The connection signal on my taskbar doesn't pop up that yellow hazard sign, which indicates that I only have local internet, but looks normal yet I'm receiving unstable connectivity. I'm also receiving more than 1.5k bytes per sec. Is that normal? Because my xp laptop is only receiving small bytes and works fine.
Is there any way to fix my problem, besides calling my provider because even with their help it only fixes the problem for a day and the problem comes back, or at least explain why I'm receiving more than 1.5k bytes a sec. and how to fix it? Thanks.
I would suggest to try and upgrade your WLAN driver in your laptop. If your other computers are working on the same wireless DSL link at approximately the same distances, I would think it is the wireless link in the computer.
If there is not an upgraded driver for your wireless lan card in your laptop, try reinstalling the most recent driver to see if it somehow dropped a protocol. I have had several laptops that for some reason or another reset themselves with odd settings until I upgrade the drivers for them, then they are stable.
Receiving large amounts of data and then cutting off seems to be another symptom of bad wireless connection.
