A Simplified Way to Set Up your LinkSys Wireless Router
Cisco is the manufacturer of Linksys which one of the most used in the world. It may come in different products namely wireless routers, cable routers and also the DSL routers. Many people, especially the inexperienced ones, are quite hesitant to set the LinkSys wireless router all by themselves. In reality, there is no need to worry because this particular LinkSys product is relatively easy to set-up. Read the rest of this article and discover how to physically and technically set one up.
The physical LinkSys wireless router setup begins by knowing that regardless of the model, the setting-procedure is a general one for every model of the router. The first step is to fasten or fix the antennas. This is a mandatory step for the wireless type. You can then plug in the Ethernet cable that is provided by your provider's modem and link it to the Internet or the WAN port, whichever is present on the wireless router. These are located on its rear part. Another cable should be then connected in another port. Lastly, you can connect the cable into your computer's Ethernet port.
Setting up is only the initial part as you need to configure it to make fully functional. At present, a wireless router is provided with a Wizard that aims to provide simple instructions to complete the configuration tasks. However, experts do not really advise the use of the given Wizard because of two facts: one is that the Wizard does not simplify the procedure and two, you will be asked to master two different interfaces which can be extremely confusing, too.
After a successful LinkSys wireless router setup, the second procedure is to log in to the system so you start using the router. To begin the procedure, use your favorite browser and access the URL: http://192.168.1.1/. A small window will appear and will ask you for your login information namely the User Name and the Password. Do not put anything on the Username box but you must enter the password. Admin is always the default one. As soon as you access it, you will see several options and the configuration shall be based on your own liking. You will be given default settings too should you make any mistakes. Once you have successfully configured the router, you are now ready to put it to the test. Try to use the Internet and if it works, then it simply means that you managed to do it correctly.
