Setting up a wireless access point to my wired router?
OK, where I'm getting the access point is from a friend and it has been set up on his network before. But now I need to set up my wired (Linksys BRFSR41) with the access point that has had the previous network on it. (Linksys WAP54G v.2) What I'm asking for I guess is how would I go about setting this up? I don't really have any previous experience with there kinds of things and need some help. Thanks!
Download the manual for the AP from the linksys site. Use a cable to connect a machine to it, and use the web browser to configure it with an IP address in the same subnet as the dhcp of your router. It will need to be an address not included in the dhcp pool, or you can cause address conflicts. Then set the encryption, save your settings and connect it direct to the router. If your friend can not tell you it's admin password, or the current IP, you may need to do a hard reset to default it.
